A watch Amazfit have become a popular part of wearable electronics for many users. Like the Mi Band fitness bracelets, this series is based on the Huami brand, which is also a partner of the Chinese Xiaomi.
One of the newer and elegant pieces is the model Amazfit GTR 47 mm, which will be closer to you in the current review.

Elegant watches have elegant packaging
After purchase you get an elegant black package that contains a smaller white box. It contains the leather watch strap itself on the top. The display is covered with protective foil.
In addition to the watch itself, the package also includes a specific charger (similar to Mi Band wristbands) with a standard USB terminal, as well as quick instruction manuals and primary synchronization.
Watches are available in both aluminum alloy and stainless steel. The strap (leather or silicone) also varies depending on the version. The length of the strap is 197 mm in our case and the weight of the watch stopped at 36 grams (dial) or 52 grams (including the strap).
The design looks premium
The watch in our black version is made of aluminum alloy, while the back is made of plastic and the front contains a 1,39 ″ display. Around it is also a pattern of individual hours of the dial. To the right is a pair of control buttons.
They are color coded with a fine red band, and the bottom of them can be customized to operate in the settings. The left side is empty, and the bottom contains two charging pins and heart rate sensors.
This watch model fits perfectly with the brown leather strap that comes in the box. This is a standard 22 mm strap that you can replace with another one if necessary.
However, the workmanship of the watch is of high quality, and it looks definitely more expensive than its real price. The big advantage of the watch is water resistance 5ATM, which means the possibility of immersion up to 50 meters.
Design comparison with Amazfit Stratos:
AMOLED display as one of the biggest advantages
Smart watch Amazfit GTR 47 mm offer a large 1,39 ″ touch AMOLED display, which is round and has a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. The color rendering of this display is very good and the brightness is sufficient even in direct sunlight.
Thanks to AMOLED technology, you can optionally activate the ambient mode in your watch settings to display the time and current day with dimmed brightness. However, from our experience, this mode drastically reduces battery life.
The display can be awakened by lifting the wrist (can be turned off), touching the display or pressing one of the two control buttons. The response to the touch of the screen is very good, practically the same as on the vast majority of AMOLED panels on smartphones. The settings also allow you to customize how many seconds the display should turn off automatically (from 5 to 15 seconds to choose). The display manufacturer deserves praise.
Amazfit - mobile application
Bluetooth 5.0 LE technology is available to sync and pair with your smartphone. We also used the official Amazfit mobile app, which is available to download for both Android and iOS.
It is very similar to its well-known Mi Fit application (which is used by Mi Band bracelets). In practice, if the user has experience with Mi Fit, he will have no problem with Amazfit.
Login to the application is possible via Xiaomi account or social networks. Adding a new device is easy, just scan the QR code from the watch screen and your smartphone will pair with it. The watch will then download the necessary firmware updates.
There is a display of the number of steps, sleep quality, heart rate statistics and other parameters that the watch is able to record. It is possible to unlock the smartphone via a watch, notifications of incoming calls, SMS messages or other applications (Gmail, Messenger, Viber, etc.).
The watch also notifies you of inactivity, and you can also add an alarm or event notification via the app. In the app you can also change the design of the watch face on the watch or localize the watch.
A small disadvantage is the frequent closing of the app in the background, after it starts, it takes a few seconds for the watch to sync again. A lower rating on the Play Store indicates this status.
Intuitive controls and fitness features
The watch software is developed “in-house” directly by Huami for Amazfit models. This is definitely the weakness of the watch. So the manufacturer has not used Google Wear OS and it feels like it.
Connection to mobile applications is minimal, notifications cannot be answered.
However, it is possible to control the music being played, or to cancel, mute or make a call. However, if we only evaluate the software side, this is a similar level of functionality to the Mi Band fitness bracelets.
Currently, however, we need to work with what we have. And fitness features are definitely not enough. There are counted steps counting, statistics of calories, distance traveled, heart rate measurement, but also numerous sports (including running, cycling, swimming, skiing, weight training and more).
In total, the watch can record up to 12 sports activities. GPS along with A-GPS will record the complete route of your running or cycling. We had no problem receiving the GPS signal and recording the route is as accurate as possible. Thanks to water resistance 5ATM can withstand up to 50 meters.
Enjoy the weather forecast based on location, the music / stopwatch control, timer, compass and location of the smartphone to which the watch is connected. That's all, but that's a shame on your watch.
One of the possible disadvantages is the absence of Slovak / Czech language. The watch can currently be used in English. By itself, this is not a major problem if you have no problem with simple English. On the other hand, the watch software does not understand accents and also does not recognize emoticons in incoming notifications.
The battery will surprise once again
The model we tested contains a battery with a total capacity of 410 mAh. It is a Li-Po battery, which should keep the watch up to 25 days. This is declared by the manufacturer itself, but like Mi Band bracelets, the durability depends on the individual use of each user.
Yes, this high endurance is real, but with limited brightness, minimal notifications, as well as minimal and manual heart rate measurements.
In our case, we have put the watch really hard to use. We set the brightness to 100% so that the display is readable even outdoors, we turned on notifications for about a dozen of the most commonly used applications, including sleep monitoring and automatic heart rate measurement.
After 36 hours, 88% lit on the display. In one day, the watch cut from 10-12% battery life, which means 10-12 days of total battery life on a single charge when really demanding. In our opinion, this is a very good result.
Is it worth it?
A watch Amazfit GTR 47 mm is currently available for around 125 euros / 3230 CZK, and this is a good purchase. In this case, the user pays mainly for the design, quality metal workmanship and materials used, both on the watch and on the strap.
A great attraction is the beautiful AMOLED display and also excellent durability on a single charge. We would like to highlight these features most on the watch. On the other hand, the system used, which does not offer advanced connectivity with mobile applications and reminds more of fitness wristbands, will freeze.

For example, we would also accept NFC payments, which is also not supported in Europe. However, competing watches offered by advanced features are usually sold at least tens of euros higher.
Although not as brutal as the price / performance ratio of other Huami devices (whether in the Mi Band or Amazfit), we recommend buying this watch.
