Xiaomi has partnered with Elliptic Labs to create a virtual proximity sensor. It was first used in the Xiaomi 11T series smartphones.
TO INNER BEAUTY
The new sensor is called AI INNER BEAUTY. It is a virtual proximity sensor. The sensor basically uses the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform. This means that hardware solutions are replaced by software solutions, which means that it reduces costs and frees up a little more space inside the device that can be used otherwise.
It has held this partnership since 2016. Previous reports have indicated the termination of the partnership due to faulty sensors in the newer POCO and Xiaomi facilities. So the partnership continues.
As CEO of Elliptic Labs said, the AI virtual smart sensor platform allows manufacturers to introduce new features, bypassing hardware sensors and reducing costs.
Xiaomi 11T Series
The Xiaomi 11T series smartphones were introduced last Wednesday at the big autumn conference. Both models offer a 6,67-inch flat AMOLED display and Full HD (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display is covered with durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Cheaper model 11T it has a processor from MediaTek, specifically the Dimensity 1200-Ultra model. More expensive Pro variant offers the powerful Snapdragon 888. Both models support fifth-generation networks.
The main camera has the same resolution of 108 MPx. Smartphones are resistant to water and dust according to IP53 certification. Xiaomi has also deployed high-quality stereo speakers from Harman / Kardon. The batteries still have a decent capacity of 5 mAh, but only the Pro model will offer fast up to 000-watt charging. The result is a fully charged smartphone in just a record 120 minutes.
We expect this sensor to be gradually deployed by Xiaomi in other new models. We are also curious about what the company will fill this space with.
