As we all know, Xiaomi brands and Redmi they produce different versions of individual smartphone models. Some are exclusively intended for the Chinese market, others are named as global versions and these are intended for customers in other parts of the world.
What is the difference between the Chinese and global versions?
A smartphone designed for the world market usually has a different type of software than a device designed exclusively for China. This is mainly language localization and some specific pre-installed applications. In the Chinese version, you will not find the Slovak language or support for applications from Google, such as the Play Store, Gmail and the like.
Equally important, the global version for the EU, for example, had to pass certification process in the EU. This means that the smartphone, including accessories, is safe and suitable for use in our conditions.
Another detail that distinguishes the Chinese version from the global version is the charging adapter designed for a specific type of electrical outlet. But the most important is support for mobile networks. Chinese version of Xiaomi smartphone do not support European LTE B20 band (800 MHz), which is why you will not connect to the 4G LTE network outside the city.
Beware of fraud
Some non-certified and unverified retailers may disguise the Chinese version of the smartphone as the global one on the pretext of making a profit. This applies especially to self-proclaimed merchants who advertise on portals such as Aliexpress, Ebay and the like. The reason is simple. The Chinese version of a smartphone is usually a bit cheaper than the global one.

A simple way not to be fooled is not to shop at questionable and unverified sellers. Once you've been lured by a lower price and bought a smartphone directly from China, you can see for yourself if you have been a victim of fraud. Xiaomi has set up a tool on its official website through which you can do so.
Na this link there is a form in which you enter the IMEI or S / N (serial number), the verification code and then verify your device.
You can find both IMEI and S / N on the box from your smartphone or directly in the phone menu in the application settings / Phone information. You can also get the IMEI in the application Telephone where you enter the code after calling the numeric keypad * # # 06.
You'll know the result almost immediately, and the global version confirmation message will look like this:
