Earlier this year, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed the launch of a new model from the revolutionary Mi MIX series. As we learn, this is supposed to be the first folding smartphone of this brand.
Apparently we have two displays waiting for us
In the photos below we see the back panel of a device not yet introduced. The opening mechanism is very similar to what is already offered by competing folding smartphones from Samsung and Huawei. The two parts of the device are connected by a flexible hinge, the inner surface of which is formed by a large display.
The rear panel contains glass and a clearly visible camera module. The lenses usually protrude above the surrounding surface of the device, which is more prone to scratches. Since it is still just a prototype, it does not have to match the final design.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 will be equipped with a model Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 external display spread across the front. After opening it, we should get to the internal display, which turns the smartphone into a small tablet. This leads to greater productivity and the user gets all the benefits of the tablet.
The insides will be top notch
All models of the Mi MIX series have so far brought the best parameters in their class. We don't know much about the information yet, but we expect the latest processor Snapdragon 888 with support for 5G networks. There is no doubt that the smartphone will also get top memory and cameras.
In terms of cameras, this will be the main thing 108 MPx sensor, and should also not be missing Android 11 with superstructure MIUI 12. The manufacturer will place great emphasis on high-capacity batteries and fast wired and wireless charging.
The expectations are high
Xiaomi is starting to fight for the title of the best flexible smartphone of the year. We will see how it handles the technology of the flexible display, on which the first generation of the Samsung Galaxy Fold in particular burned.
It could attract with a better price than in the case of the competition. So far releases they talked about the first half of the year, but they turned out to be wrong and the performance will take place in the second half.
