The segment of smart bracelets was popularized mainly by Xiaomi, because it is the company that brings them with a great price-performance ratio. It is already in preparation 8th generation, we have the first photos and the first certification.
Xiaomi smart band 7 came to the global market in the summer of 2022, so it's high time to think about a successor. It was introduced in Chinese a little earlier, so we can be sure that the new generation will arrive soon.
New certification in South Korea
The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is very close to being introduced as it has received its own the first certification in South Korea, which is one of the steps that must be taken before the market launch.
First, we expect it, traditionally, on the Chinese market, and in the course of the next months it will also appear on the global market. We could even see the first photos of this smart bracelet, which reveal several interesting things.
New strap attachment
We can see that in terms of design, the novelty will clearly follow in the footsteps of its predecessor. So again pill shape, no physical button and the largest possible AMOLED display.
We can also notice that the position of the sensors is more or less similar to the previous generation. But we can notice the novelty in new strap attachment.
Until now it worked so that the strap had a hoop inside that the body clicked into, but with the new one it looks like we'll have a system similar to the Apple Watch or Pixel Watch.
The new strap should be made of two parts, both of which are attached to the body of the smart bracelet using a simple mechanism.
Will NFC also come for payment?
The specifications say about Bluetooth 5.1, which is definitely a surprise, since the Smart Band 7 had the faster Bluetooth 5.2 standard integrated into it.
We do not expect any more radical changes to come. The question will still be whether this year in the global version we will see an NFC module for contactless payments, because that is one of the biggest disadvantages of the previous generation.
