Cleaner and more modern design
In terms of design, MIUI 11 has not changed much. It has undergone only slight design changes, which bring an even cleaner and simpler look. The elements now have a much more modern look, dominated by white, bold and simple colors. MIUI 11 thus adheres to the latest design trends.
The dark regime, which is not missing in MIUI 11, is following the same trend. In addition to the settings, many built-in applications, such as calendar, contacts, calculator, notes, and more, switch to dark mode.
In terms of design, MIUI comes in 11 s new font, which Xiaomi called "Mi Lan Pro". The design of a new font may not tell the average user anything, but in the field of designers, the manufacturer has earned the reddot award 2019 for the new font.
Extended ambient display functions
MIUI 11 also brings innovations in the display of the ambient display. From now on, the user will be able to customize the screen much more. The user can even set their own message to be displayed on the screen. Dynamic animations when the display lights up are also new. It's not a groundbreaking improvement, but it looks beautiful.
New dynamic sounds
In its new version of MIUI, the manufacturer has also updated all alarm and notification sounds to be dynamic. This means that sounds can vary depending on variables such as place and time. Again, this is not a particularly important feature, but it will definitely be interesting.
Mi Work: New applications to increase productivity
In MIUI 11, we find a set of new productivity tools, which the manufacturer calls the Mi Work Productivity Suite. The package contains four completely new applications that are designed to make working in business easier.
Mi Share - fast data transfer
The Mi Share application enables devices with the new version of MIUI to quickly transfer files between Xiaomi laptops, smartphones, as well as Oppo and Vivo devices. The application has a very simple user interface.
It transfers files at speeds of up to 82 MB / s. Of course, everything works wirelessly, no cables required.
New document manager
Xiaomi, in collaboration with WPS Office developers, brings its own document manager. The application can open and edit various standard document formats, such as Word files, presentations or PDF. This eliminates the need to install any third-party applications.
Screenshare function
A completely new tool is the ability to "mirror" the smartphone screen directly to an external device. Screenshare works much like Google's well-known Chromecast. However, in MIUI 11, you can wirelessly transmit images to projectors, smart TVs, and other display devices.
The new content mirroring application has a number of presentation tools that simulate physical tools. For example, you can use your finger as a laser pointer and take notes directly from your phone. The application also intelligently protects privacy, which means that it will not display incoming notifications, such as messages or calls, when mirroring content.
Wireless printing
The latest application in the Mi Work package is the wireless printing application. It supports 25 printer brands and up to 2000 models.
Mi Go Travel - travel assistant
In addition to the office suite, a new travel package of Mi Go Travel tools is also available. The first tool is travel assistant, in which the user can store all important information about the next trip, including ticket details, hotel reservations and weather forecast. All this information is synchronized by the application for a better overview.
This package includes a new Super Power Saving mode - a battery saving mode set to maximum. The manufacturer states that the smartphone can last in this mode with only 5% of the remaining battery. Unfortunately, we do not currently know further details.
All topics completely free
The MIUI extension includes the possibility to change the design of application icons and other elements via familiar Themes. These can be downloaded from the store, where the topics were free but also paid. Xiaomi has now made all topics available for free.
The company claims that even though they needed additional income, they are doing quite well at the moment and want to return it to their fans.
Earthquake warning also SOS
Yes, you read that correctly. A phone with MIUI 11 can alert you a few seconds in advance of an earthquake. A large pop-up window appears on the display and also alerts you with a loud sound. In addition, emergency contacts or a medical information card are always available.
SOS is also a new feature. The user sets the emergency contact in advance and in case of emergency it is enough to press the power button 5 times. The phone automatically sends the message to the emergency contact.
From the news in MIUI 11, that's all. How do you rate the new version of the superstructure from Xiaomi? Do you like?
Mi 9T Global, I'm still waiting, take your time.
When will it be available for pocophone?
Will everything be on the desktop again or will there be a list of apps at last? And what a stupid and unusable volume application instead of a ringtone.
Who's bothering fonts who cares? How much am I digging into the menu?
The structure of the home desktop has not changed in any way, applications remain on the desktop, the application menu has not been added.
