We have informed several times that MIUI for us is preparing a novelty in the form of a new graphical display of the application menu.
Function App Drawer - in Slovak List of applications - has been officially integrated into the environment MIUI Launcher and is available to all users.
The new version of MIUI Launcher brings news
As we expected, the innovative display came with an update to the MIUI Launcher system application. It was released in February and the new version with this feature is called 4.15.0. What does the application list actually bring and how does it work?
The update brought a new option to the home screen settings, where an item with the option to arrange the home screen has been added.
Once selected, the user has a choice between Normal view, or display With Application List.
The common view is the old, well-known MIUI view that we have known since its inception. All applications are displayed on the home screens, with the number of home screens depending on the number of applications.
There, meanwhile, the option of folders has been added, so it is possible to reduce the number of home screens by systematically arranging them.
The new With Application List view removes applications from the home screens and organizes all applications into a list. The user can access it gesture By swiping your finger from the bottom of the screen on the home screen, or by clicking on the arrow icon.
After activating the Application list, the item will be added to the settings Application menu, in which the user can customize their list of applications.
You can also access this setting by clicking on icon with three commas in the upper right corner of the application list.
Many customization options
There is an option to display in the Application menu settings recommended applications. After selecting it, the list of applications in the top two rows will show the recommended applications, which are usually sorted by the intensity of use. If this option is turned off, all applications are sorted alphabetically from top to bottom.
If you have a lot of applications, you can use them to find a specific one search window at the bottom of the list. When entering the initial letters of the application, the list of applications is interactively narrowed down to a specific application.
The developers have also added the ability to search the Play Store. It is also possible to use it for a quick transition right scroll bar with alphabet.
Another customization option is categorization of the list of applications, where you can sort your applications into your own categories. There are 6 default categories such as Communication, Entertainment, Photography, Tools, Lifestyle and Finance and Business.
The advantage is that the user can freely edit, move and delete categories and create their own. After clicking on any category, it is possible to add or delete applications from it.
When categorization is active, the individual categories of the application list appear at the top of the display. The user moves between them by dragging his finger across the screen to the sides.
The last customization option is background. It is possible to set a light or dark display regardless of the setting of the entire MIUI display.
The user also has the option to select the system background - that is, with the wallpaper on the home screen and set its transparency from 0 to 100%. There is a handy preview right in the settings to see the selected setting.
Home screen with a small change
And what happened to the home screen? It was left without applications. However, the user has the option to place it on it link to any application, or even widgets.
This option works in the classic way by holding your finger on the application icon in the list and then dragging the icon to the home screen.
There is also the possibility to use more home screens by moving the widget or the application link to the right. Note that in this case, they are on the home screen or screens application links onlythat is, by removing them already the application do not uninstall.
The option to place up at the bottom of the home screen remains six arbitrary links to applications that are always displayed, despite moving between multiple home screens.
One small drawback
However, nowhere in the new view did we find the option to uninstall the application, or even uninstall it in bulk, as is possible with the normal view. With this type of display, so you only uninstall the application through settings and application management.
We rate this as a small minus, but we assume that with the newer version of MIUI Launcher, the possibility of direct and mass uninstallation may increase.
And one more innovation
The new version of MIUI Launcher brought another innovation. It's a possibility icon size settings from size XS to size XL.
Moving the slider between sizes is smooth and not graded, so the widest possible range of sizes is available. You can also change it by clicking on the individual letter indicating the size.
