This year, the Chinese company Xiaomi came to the market with a trio of fully wireless headphones, also known as TWS - True Wireless Earphones. Xiaomi AirDots and AirDots Pro were later joined by cheaper ones Redmi AirDots, which are incredibly popular.
The application expands their possibilities
All models offer a perfect sound experience due to their prices. However, compared to more expensive headphones from this category, they have limited control functions. This is solved by a newly created application called Dotdroid. You can download it directly in the Google Play store.
The application mainly focuses on the possibilities of changing the touch control of Xiaomi AirDots and AirDots Pro headphones. In the support of the application we also find a simple Xiaomi headset, Redmi Unfortunately, AirDots are not yet supported. However, after connecting the headphones it also shows their battery status a estimated endurance.
In the application you can customize what happens after one and double clicks. You can choose from many options:
- No reaction
- Next song
- Previous song
- Add volume
- Decrease the volume
- Rewind the warehouse in 15 seconds
- Fast forward the song by 15 seconds
- Activate Google Assistant
- Current time (in Chinese)
Many users will welcome the ability to switch songs, which is missing in the standard functionality of the headphones. The application developer is still working to improve it, and it's likely that we'll see more options over time.
Otherwise, it is a great pity that Xiaomi does not supply such an application to the headphones directly. This would further increase the cost-effectiveness of their headphones and could also attract even more satisfied customers. In any case, it's great to see that the community itself is working to improve Xiaomi products, benefiting other users of these devices.
