Among the devices built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 platform, the Poco F2 Pro is undoubtedly the winner in terms of price and performance. But it's definitely not just great performance or a good camera that makes it a flagship.
But as is often the case in the world of smartphones, this model has not escaped imperfections. On the other hand, at a price tag of around € 460, the phone is really a technological gem and therefore the following imperfections are just "beauty flaws".
Poco F2 Pro without optical stabilization
The Poco F2 Pro has taken a really big step forward in photo and video recording quality. The phone has four optical sensors, which are dominated by 64 MPx from the SONY workshop.
The sensor is marked IMX686 and has the potential to satisfy all lovers of quality photography.
It is therefore a pity that such a high-quality sensor is not equipped with optical stabilization technology. This is especially noticeable when shooting in low light conditions or when night mode is on. The quality of video recording also suffered in the absence of optical stabilization.
Heavy, heavier, heaviest
It might seem that Xiaomi's workshop is getting heavier and heavier smartphones. With its weight of 2 grams, the Poco F218 Pro exceeds the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, which both weigh 208 g each.
In terms of the weight of competing smartphones, it is heavier than the OnePlus 8 with a weight of 180 g, the Samsung Galaxy S20 + with 188 g and even the OnePlus 8 Pro with a weight of 199 g.
This model will probably not be an attraction for people who usually spend most of the day with a smartphone in their hand, or like massive packaging on it.
The Poco F2 Pro is not light and its respectable 218 g is really handy in the hand.
60 Hz Super AMOLED, LPDDR5 for extra charge and only one mono speaker
As a last point, we mention three minor technological imperfections of the smartphone. However, in our opinion, they are not important enough to create a negative characteristic of a smartphone, but it is nevertheless good to mention them.
The first and probably most negatively evaluated aspect is the lower refresh rate of the display. The smartphone is equipped with a really excellent Super AMOLED display with very good color display quality and strong brightness. Unfortunately, the display only received a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz.
On the other hand, the absence of a 90 Hz display is understandable, given the price tag of the smartphone. For a phone with 90 Hz technology, you need to pay extra € 200 to € 300.
The second minor drawback is the fact that the phone variant with 6 GB RAM uses the older LPDDR4X RAM technology.
Again, the newer LPDDR5 memory requires the purchase of an 8 GB version. The trio of minor shortcomings is closed by the absence of stereo speakers, and is therefore equipped with only one mono speaker.
What is the conclusion?
In conclusion, the Poco F2 Pro remains one of the best options in this price range. It is designed for anyone looking for a powerful smartphone with balanced functionality and a very reasonable price.
