More faithful fans of mobile technology, specifically the Chinese giant, have certainly noticed that Xiaomi was reluctant to implement official IP certification for a better price. That should change, according to new statements.
Both Xiaomi and Redmi are considering IP coverage
Lu Weibing, CEO of Redmi, posted a few days ago on the Weibo social network, referring to the implementation of IP protection for Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones.
Until recently, the company's position was that IP certification unnecessarily increases the final price of smartphones, while it is not so necessary. Not only at the request of the fans, Lu decided to reconsider his position on this situation.
In his contributions, he announced that new smartphones from Redmi production should have a degree of coverage IP68. We are convinced that many fans, including us, have been very pleased with this report.
Xiaomi has long been criticized by fans for the absence of water resistance, at least in flagships. Increased durability gives the user a higher sense of security, but on the other hand, there are certainly higher costs associated with it, just for the certification itself.
So far, we do not know whether the new smartphone with an increased degree of IP68 protection will be the successor in the form Redmi K40, or it will be a completely different model. Either way, compared to the Redmi K30 Pro smartphone with IP53, this is a very solid upgrade.
IP68 protection would allow the user to use the smartphone, for example in a swimming pool, and at the same time the protection against spilled liquids would be much better. This is a very welcome improvement in every way.
