Spoločnosť Xiaomi has introduced a new generation of its fitness bracelet not only in Chinese, but also in a global version. It has a label Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 and brings several hardware as well as software improvements.
The bracelet was even earlier introduced in China with the designation Mi Band 5. This version even includes an intelligent assistant XiaoAI and payments via NFC chip designed exclusively for China. However, on 15 July 2020, a European presentation of the global version took place, which will be called Mi Smart Band 5.

The dimensions of the new fitness bracelet stopped at 47,2 x 18,5 x 12,4 mm, while the standard version (without NFC) weighs 11,9 grams. The NFC version then has a negligible extra two grams.

The body of the device itself is also modified, which this time contains a larger, up to 1,1 ″ AMOLED display with rounded corners. AMOLED offers excellent brightness of up to 450 nits and a resolution of 126 x 294 pixels.
The PPG heart rate sensor, which is located on the back, has also been improved. It offers non-stop monitoring of heart rate and sleep, while it is improved compared to the previous generation by up to 50%.
The novelty is also up to 11 modes for sports activities. Namely, it is a treadmill, freestyle exercise, outdoor running, cycling, walking, swimming, yoga, rowing machine, stationary bike and elliptical trainer. In terms of software, the function of monitoring the menstrual cycle directly in the Mi Fit application is also available.
The battery in the equipment has a capacity of 125 mAh, according to the manufacturer, the endurance per charge should be at the level of 14 days. A total of 6 color versions should be launched. Bracelets between generations Mi Band 4/5 are not compatible.
