We can say that today Xiaomi "rewrote the history" of the history of selfie cameras in smartphones. The CEO of the company presented a full-fledged functional prototype selfie camera under the display, the quality of which is equal to a normal selfie camera.
Since ZTE plans a similar debut in the near future, Xiaomi could not be late and eventually overtook ZTE itself. Finally, after years of waiting, we will have a beautiful full-screen experience without any compromises.
Already the third generation of this prototype
The development of the selfie camera under the display started under the wings of Xiaomi already in June 2019. At that time, the desired effect was achieved by reducing the pixel density of the display above the lens, but the display and the photos themselves were marked accordingly.
The company's CEO today introduced a functional prototype of a camera sleeve under the display. But now, instead of reducing the pixel density, technology developed by the Chinese giant itself has been used to adjust pixel layout on the display.
In the first image we can see the classic cutout and grouping of four pixels. The second image shows the principle of operation of the previous prototypes (omission of 3 pixels - reduction of density) and the last reveals the modified arrangement of pixels.
Big news: Xiaomi announced the third generation of under-screen camera technology. The video below is a special under-screen camera version of the Mi 10 Ultra, which has reached a usable level, which is very exciting. This technology will be mass-produced in early 2021. pic.twitter.com/m8bujC2KCs

This hot news was also shared by a well-known informant and leakster Ice universe on your twitter account. There is also a video that compares the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra with a cutout and probably the same, only a modified, smartphone.
According to the manufacturer, the final quality of the photos should be the same as from an ordinary selfie camera in a shooting. The manufacturer also fine-tuned the material around the camera to allow more light to enter the sensor.
Of course, we are very pleased with this technological step. We have been waiting for this moment since the very patenting of this technology, and more than a year later we have before us a fully functional and fine-tuned prototype.
CEO Xiaomi, Lei Jun, plans to launch smartphones with this under-screen selfie camera technology during year 2021. Until then, all we have to do is wait and look forward to the arrival, for many people, of revolutionary technology.
