The popularity of mobile phones with a display with a higher refresh rate is growing and new models are constantly being added to the market. Until recently, this parameter was not monitored by the average user, it seems that everything will be different.
The high-resolution race is over, running at the highest refresh rate begins.
60 Hz will no longer be enough
The current refresh rate of displays on smartphones today has been at the level of 60 Hz until recently. However, this parameter has started to increase recently. This year alone, 9 smartphones with a display refresh rate exceeding 60 Hz were introduced. For example, the well-known OnePlus 7 pro model reaches a value of up to 90 Hz.
In June / July we brought article with instructions to overclock this display frequency on the Xiaomi Mi 9 from the original value of 60 Hz to 84 Hz. This guide was brought by users of the popular website XDA Developers.
XDA Developers again examined the software codes
Používateľ smartfónu si bude môcť vybrať medzi 60 Hz a 120Hz.
In the description with settings, it is stated that a higher frequency will make the image smoother - smoother, while the selected lower frequency saves energy. This description is similar to features from other smartphones that already run at higher display frequencies.
Skillful user „kackskrz” from XDA even integrated the functionality into his mobile phone. His smartphone does not support such frequencies and therefore the display does not work, but it shows us what the function in the menu might look like.
No details yet
For now, however, it is not clear which smartphone it will be, and we know nothing about it. Neither its code designation nor the period in which it may appear is known. It is not even clear whether in this case it will be an LCD display or AMOLED.
As we mentioned in the introduction, there are not many smartphones with a display with a high refresh rate. The good news is that new devices are constantly being added and Xiaomi does not intend to lag behind in this segment. A user who has been able to use such a device no longer wants to return to smaller values.
At present, we do not find much support for such a high frequency in many games or applications. It can be assumed that with the growing number of smartphones, software developers will also have to deal with this parameter.
As soon as we know more about the Xiaomi smartphone with a 120 Hz display, we will send you an email. ?
