Chinese technology giant Xiaomi represents a new DSDA technology. It is Dual SIM Dual Active, while this news was presented at the well-known MWC 2023 trade fair in Barcelona, Spain.
What is Dual SIM Dual Active technology?
Although smartphones with dual active SIM cards have been around for some time, many manufacturers have decided not to include this technology in their devices. The main factor is of course the price, i.e. the cost of its implementation. A Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) is nothing but the support of a pair of active SIM cards at the same time, but in the version from Xiaomi.
Standard support Dual SIM – Dual Standby allows you to use two cards, but when one card is actively used, the other is inactive. The new solution thus allows you to receive calls and messages in real time from this second card as well.
If you have both SIM cards in yours dual SIM your smartphone is always active, so you don't have to do the complicated switching of active cards. You also don't have to choose a primary or secondary card, given that all data is always available to you immediately.
Necessary hardware components in future Xiaomi smartphones
More information about this technology comes from the MIUI Polska source. Dual SIM Dual Active from the workshop of Xiaomi is not only a software solution, but also requires other hardware elements. No application or software OTA update will add this function to your smartphone.
We do not yet know the date when we will see the first one Xiaomi smartphone with integrated DSDA technology. However, we hope that this useful hardware improvement, which will be appreciated by many users, will be part of the upcoming flagship devices.
