Our favorite Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi officially introduced its new magnetic charging system. It is charging in the style of the popular Apple MagSafe, and will thus become a part of future smartphones resp. their optional accessories.
Magnetic charging system in Xiaomi design
Xiaomi announced quite unexpectedly the launch of its own magnetic technology for charging smartphones. However, it is not the first company, this concept was launched by the popular Apple brand, which was already followed in this trend by the Chinese manufacturer Realme.
Magnetic charging came on the market last year with the launch of the Apple iPhone 12 series. However, several manufacturers wanted to adapt this technology to their models, which requires the purchase of optional accessories.
The Chinese brand Xiaomi has now announced through the Weibo social network that it is starting research and development of such a wireless charging, which combines inductive charging technology with magnetic charging.
This combination of a pair of technologies should be able to create total charging power up to 50 W. And this value is very similar to what competing Realme offers on its own Mag Dart solution.
These are the advantages of magnetic charging
With this solution, Xiaomi seeks to strengthen the current induction charging solution and thus eliminate its weaknesses. It is for this reason that it is launching its own magnetic charging technology.
It should be noted that magnetic charging offers the great advantage of reducing the amount of energy lost by up to 50%, compared to the current inductive resp. wireless charging. The magnetic frame, which is correctly attached to the smartphone, is responsible for the correct direction of energy during charging.
Another advantage of the new magnetic technology is its versatility. It allows you not only to charge mobile phones, but also to hold various other accessories. We could see on the market various quick chargers with integrated cooler or a wide range of MagSafe accessories from Apple to the car or for everyday wear. In addition, magnetic charging should effectively reduce the heat value during charging.
When will we see a new way of charging in practice?
So far, we have only witnessed the announcement of the development of this technology by Xiaomi. So we are witnessing an invitation to develop technology in the future. According to the current post, users should wait for a quality implementation of this technology. However, we can also see the Weibo network 3D model with components that will be the core of Xiaomi magnetic charging in the future.
In addition, this announcement has so far been published only within the domestic, Chinese market, and we do not yet have information on the availability of this technology in Europe. However, given the rapid progress of the Chinese brand, we expect it to be more a matter of time before we see the first global smartphone to support this type of magnetic charging.
