appearance
The appearance of both smartphones looks like a flagship segment, not a mid-range device. Both are top-notch in terms of construction, the displays are mounted in modern thin frames. Both devices come in three different color combinations with modern shades.
The difference in dimensions is only slight, especially in the height of the larger one Redmi Note 8 Pro 4,5 mm larger. The biggest difference in this category is the weight. Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite is lighter by as much as 20 gwhich is quite a lot. This smartphone thus looks more compact and more comfortable to wear, and is therefore the winner in this category.
Display
The bigger it is, the better, but it may not always apply. The displays of both smartphones have almost the same specifications. The display on the Mi 9 Lite is 0,14 inches smaller at a diagonal. However, they have the same resolution, and Note 8 Pro has a slightly smaller pixel-to-square-inch ratio due to its size.
Both displays are depleted of a small part of the area due to the cut-out for the front camera. But what is a significant difference is the technology used. Mi 9 Lite is equipped with an AMOLED panelwhile Note 8 Pro only standard LTPS display. The Mi 9 Lite has a more vivid and realistic display of colors with higher brightness and high contrast, and therefore it also becomes a winner in this category.
In addition, thanks to AMOLED, it got into the display as well fingerprint readerwhich is really fast. Some users are more comfortable with the sensor on the back and therefore we will not evaluate it as a plus or minus.
Performance
We will not speculate and defend in this area. The game type of the Helio G90T chip set from the Mediatek company clearly has the upper hand before Snapdragon 710. This is also evidenced by the point scores achieved in the AnTuTu performance test.
Both smartphones have versions with at least 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. This can be expanded with a memory card at the expense of one SIM card. Redmi The Note 8 Pro has an extra fluid-based cooling, which significantly reduces the temperature of the hardware during demanding computational operations. This maintains software stability and reduces power consumption.
Redmi The Note 8 Pro clearly leads especially in the area of graphics performance and its Mali-G76MC4 graphics chip is slightly more powerful than the Adreno 640 in Mi 9 Lite. This means that on Note 8 Pro you can easily play, for example, PUBG or Fortnite.
In terms of performance, it is a clear winner Redmi Note 8 Pro. However, both smartphones are perfectly smooth and both can handle more demanding games.
Cameras
If we imagined imaginary scales, in this category, smartphones would be compared as on a swing. One has better, the other there. We will not embark on the scientific analysis of the primary sensors of individual models.
CMOS and ISOCELL sensor types also divide fans into two camps. Redmi Note 8 Pro brought a large 64 MPx Samsung sensor and offers a combination of three additional cameras. Mi 9 Lite has a slightly smaller Sony sensor with a resolution of 48 MPx, but we dare say that you can conjure up better quality shots with it.
As they say, megapixels are not everything, and in this case it is true. The Mi 9 Lite produces even sharper photos in some conditions than the Note 8 Pro. The camera in the Mi 9 Lite also has the upper hand in terms of dynamic range and contrast. You can see photo comparisons below.
In the part of the camera, we lean towards the Mi 9 Lite model, which processes more beautiful photos.
Battery pack
If we look at the specifications of both models, the winner is immediately clear. Redmi The Note 8 Pro has a capacity battery 4 500 mAh, while the Mi 9 Lite smaller model has a 4 mAh battery. However, it is questionable whether endurance per charge will not have similar results under natural conditions.
Note 8 Pro has a larger display and a more demanding processor, which could ultimately affect the power consumption. Both opponents support fast charging at 18 W. We dare to announce in this category draw.
Price
Regardless of everything, price is one of the most decisive parameters. So let's look at the price values of the compared smartphones. We chose the cheapest, but proven source, from which we can get both models, and that is, of course, the web Deal Planet.
