Thanks to our vision, we are the first to notice the shape and size of the phones being compared. While the differences in width and height are slight and we are talking about tenths of a millimeter, at a thickness it is already a whole 1 mm. This is a significant increase with the total thickness of 9T Pro 8.8 mm.
Mi 9 has dimensions 157.5 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm and 9T Pro 156.7 x 74.3 x 8.8 mm. Thanks to the thinner frames around the display, the 9T Pro looks wider in size. This is also due to the teardrop-shaped cut-out of the Mi 9, which optically slims down.
Weight and materials used in favor of Mi 9
A noticeable difference is holding the phones and almost 20 g does its. Mi 9 has a weight 173 gwhile the Mi 9T Pro up to 191 g. The materials used also speak in favor of Mi 9. Mostly glass was used in this phone. 9T Pro is made of plastic, although with an interesting back cover with a holographic image of the flames.
In our evaluation, we will also focus on the display of both phones. Both are equipped AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.39 inches and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 px, thanks to which it achieves density 403 pixels per inch.
Even though they are the same in terms of parameters and dimensions, we can still find them on them two differences. The first and foremost is teardrop-shaped cutout, which has a Mi 9, but the 9T Pro does not have it thanks to the retractable selfie camera.
The cutouts on phones began to appear with the effect of reducing the thickness of the frames around the displays. It seems that this idea has not been found by many fans in users, and over time, developers are increasingly looking for solutions to abandon cutouts.
The second difference is the version of protection used Gorilla Glasswhich is the 9th version of the 5T Pro. The Mi 9 has Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
The fingerprint sensor in the display is better with the 9T Pro
Both flagships also have a built-in fingerprint sensor in the display. The 9T Pro wins here, where the sensor of the latest seventh series, which is 10% faster while scanning accuracy is increased by up to 30%.
Snapdragon 855 was used in both phones
processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 was used in both phones, but it is a modern flagship. You can also combine the same memory versions when choosing, up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The Mi 9 also has a version with 12 GB of RAM, but the 9T Pro model does not have such a memory capacity.
On paper, both models are the same, but in performance tests AnTuTu is the clear winner of the Mi 9T Pro. He scored up to 388 000while Mi 9 "only" 372 000. This may be due to improved optimization of the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro or the Game Turbo 2.0 game mode used.
The Mi 9 is equipped with the first version of the Game Turbo. If you suffer from performance, the 9T Pro will be a better choice. He also supports it connecting a game joystick from the Black Shark 2 model.
There are also differences in the cameras used
Both devices are equipped with three rear cameras. The primary 48 MPx Sony IMX586 Exmor RS sensor is the same for both phones. We will find the difference only with both secondary cameras.
At Mi 9 they are 12 MPx telephoto lens with aperture f / 2.2 and widescreen 16 MPx with aperture f / 2.2 and viewing angle 117 °. Mi 9T Pro has 8 MPx telephoto lens with aperture f / 2.4 a widescreen 16 MPx with aperture f / 2.4 and viewing angle up to 124,8 °.
We found the first quality cameras on the Internet, which is in Chinese, but it speaks volumes about the resulting quality. Both phones have excellent video stabilization.
We have already compared cameras on our website. In our article however, the Mi 9T Pro model is still marked as Redmi K20 Pri.
The retractable front camera has a small disadvantage
There are no differences in the resolution of the front selfie camera. The same was used for both devices 20 MPx sensors Sony IMX576 Exmor RS. Little the difference is with the focal aperturewhich is at Mi 9 level 2.0 while at 9T Pro it is 2.2.
The main difference between the front cameras is visible at first glance and lies in their location. The innovative placement in the 9T Pro is ensured by an automatic pull-out module driven by a mini motor. Thanks to that, he doesn't Mi9T Pro not a cutout in the display, but at the same time a device we will not be able to unlock the face.
Seemingly insignificant details can also decide
Other little things that can influence your choice include features such as LED notifications a infrared port, which found only in Mi 9. U 9T Pro is again popular 3,5 mm jack and application Radio.
There is also a significant difference in the batteries used
The last indicator that can decide is the battery and charging. Ten v My 9 has capacity only 3 mAh, which is a bit low with a phone with this performance and a 6,39-inch AMOLED display. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro wins in this categorywhich has a battery capacity of up to 4 mAh.
In addition, the promised optimizations in the newer model are expected to significantly extend endurance per charge. Although we add that The 9T Pro does not have wireless charging ako Mi 9 (wireless fast charging 20 W) clearly wins the battle for batteries.
