Today is one of the most important days for Xiaomi in 2019. In Beijing, they officially unveiled the fourth generation of the world's most popular fitness bracelet - Xiaomi Mi Band 4.
Even though we knew what it would look like before the show, only now have we learned all its functions. Ladies and gentlemen, Mi Band 4.
Biggest innovation: Large color display
One of the biggest innovations of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is definitely the large color display. Looking back a few years, to the beginnings of the Mi Band bracelet, the very first generation did not have a display at all. We saw the first display with three functions in Mi Band 2, while Mi Band 3 already brought a display with notifications, weather and other functions.
However, Mi Band 4 is a breakthrough in the Mi Band range. For the first time in the history of this bracelet, we have seen the color display it has diagonal up to 0,95 ″ a 240 x 120 px resolution. The display is about 39,9% larger as in the case of Mi Band 3, which offers much more space for displaying content.
The display uses a beautiful AMOLED panel with perfect black and 2,5D bend. It offers up to 16 million colors, as well as smartphone displays. A novelty is also the possibility customize your screen dials according to their own preferences. The user has a huge amount available, up to 77 combinations.
One of the big problems with displays in previous generations of the Mi Band was visibility in the sun. AMOLED displays are naturally perfectly visible in direct sunlight, and Xiaomi promises these features even with Mi Band 4.
Water resistance up to 50 m, swimming monitoring and NFC
Water resistance is a matter of course of the fitness bracelet. Mi Band 4 will last immersion to a depth of up to 50 meters, a significant novelty is the monitoring of swimming. Previous generations did not offer this feature.
Shooting swimming, but also other more demanding sports is possible thanks to the new 6-axis accelerometer. Thanks to a new function called Swolf, it can monitor various types of swimming, such as breasts, crawls or butterflies.
In addition to swimming, it is possible to monitor other sports through the Mi Band 4 - running on a belt, exercising in the gym, cycling, running outdoors or fast walking.
The standard equipment of smartphones, but also smart watches in China, is NFC. In this country, NFC payments are incredibly widespread and The NFC chip is also missing in Mi Band 4. Functionality on the international market is still questionable, we will have to wait for that when presenting the global version.
Voice assistant and music remote control
In more expensive smart watches, we are used to remote control of music played on a smartphone, but this is not the standard with Mi Bands. However, Mi Band 4 also brings such a function - songs can be paused remotely or skipped between them.
The reality is also announced voice assistantwhich works, as usual, in Chinese. However, homeowners can use it control all smart home appliancesthat are linked to the Mi Home application. They can remotely start the vacuum cleaner, turn on the light or set the air conditioning temperature.
Xiaomi has a really sophisticated ecosystem of facilities that we can only envy the Chinese for now.
Endurance of 20 days was maintained
The new large color display demands more energy. The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is therefore equipped with the largest battery we have ever seen in the Mi Bands. It has capacity 135 mAh, which is a significant 3% increase in capacity compared to the Mi Band 23.
The long battery life has always been the biggest asset and has become a kind of icon for Mi Band bracelets. Thanks to the larger battery capacity and despite the new AMOLED color display, Mi Band 4 offers endurance great 20 days!

And what about the price "for us"?
But in order not to have high expectations, we have to cool you down a bit. Since these prices are only for the Chinese market, for the people of China, we will not buy the Mi Band 4 at such low prices. At least not in the first months.
The global version is expected to launch later this month, with a higher price tag. We estimate that it could stop somewhere around the 30 mark € for the version without NFC. However, we will have to wait for the official prices for us Europeans.
