Chinese giant Xiaomi produces a number of smartphones year-on-year. Recently, the brand has been ranked fourth in worldwide sales. In the third quarter of 2020, however, Xiaomi overtook Apple and came in third. Xiaomi is like that the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.
Xiaomi grows despite "corona crisis"
As coronavirus is currently operating everywhere in the world, significant declines in smartphone sales were expected. Strict measures and lockdowns in many countries have indicated this.
Based on estimates, a decrease in sales of up to 9% was expected. In the end, this number was not confirmed and sales of smartphones worldwide fell by only 1.3% compared to last year.
This information is published by the company IDC (International Data Corporation), which publishes quarterly sales reports. It sold together in the third quarter of 2020 353.6 million smartphones worldwide. This is the period between July and September.
Xiaomi surprisingly in third place
The Korean brand remains the leader Samsung. The market share is 22.7%. The company sold 80.4 million smartphones in the third quarter. Compared to last year, Samsung recorded an increase in sales of 2.9%.
On the second bar is Chinese Huaweibut which is not as good as Samsung. Contributing to this are the persistent problems with Google support.
Perhaps he also noticed a statement from the Slovak president towards the Huawei brand, which called the brand risky. Worldwide, Huawei saw a year-on-year decline in sales of up to 22%.
While Samsung is holding its position and Huawei is losing sales, there is one brand that is celebrating huge success. Xiaomi improved compared to last year by only 42%. Xiaomi's market share is currently 13.1% and they sold 46.5 million smartphones in the third quarter. Xiaomi pushed Apple to fourth place in sales!
Apple and Vivo
Mark Apple is currently on the fourth place with sales of 41.6 million units. This is a year-on-year decrease of 10.6%. Living is right behind Apple in fifth place with 31.5 million smartphones sold. However, the Vivo brand improved by 4.2% year-on-year.
If development continues at a similar pace, the next Xiaomi may surprise again and overtake Huawei. They are not far from that.
