A popular Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is already preparing to expand its product portfolio with its own the first desktop computer. And we know its design or expected equipment even before the official presentation.
The first desktop computer from Xiaomi
The first leaks of information about this product appeared last week, revealing the design Xiaomi MiniHost in China. This particular product should be a direct competitor for the Mac Mini from Apple or for other compact desktop computers.
Now, more leaks have surfaced showing the possible design as well as the first technical specifications. This information comes directly from the Chinese social network Weibo, where one of the users shared photos. It is basically an invitation to a conference that Xiaomi sent in the form of a mockup of this mini computer.
At the same time, it will be the first product in the desktop computer segment from Xiaomi, i.e. primarily a manufacturer of mobile phones and tablets, but which has also been experimenting with laptops for several years.
High performance vs compact dimensions
As you can see in the published image, the new compact desktop computer will offer a metal construction. It really doesn't take up much space on the desk and offers connectivity on its front side.
Specifically, there are different types USB connectors, 3,5 mm audio connector for connecting headphones, a button for turning on / off the device, as well as grids for better cooling of the insides.
The back side could also contain other options for connecting accessories, but we do not yet know the specific connectors. In terms of hardware, the processor AMD Ryzen 7 6800H will be supplemented by Radeon 680M RDNA 2 GPU. It won't be missing either 16 GB RAM memory and up to 512 GB fast SSD storage. That's not bad at all considering the size of this product as well as the expected selling price.
It is also confirmed that this product will be released in the Chinese market at the same presentation as long expected Xiaomi 13 series. It could be held on the new date of December 8, but it is not yet a confirmed date. We don't have any further information on global availability yet.
Estimated price of Xiaomi Mini Host PC
If we look at the leaks, it is expected that Xiaomi MiniHost it will go on the market with the official selling price 3999 Chinese yuan. This is approximately 545 EUR. This is a really reasonable price, for which we will have to wait for confirmation directly from the manufacturer, as well as the start of sales.
