Wireless and fast data transfer is becoming an increasingly important part of our Android devices. The technology becomes particularly interesting with the arrival of new and innovative 5G networks.
An alliance that wants to provide this functionality to users is currently emerging among the largest Chinese brands Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo.
Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance
The cooperation was announced by the Chinese Xiaomi, which is adding the aforementioned pair of other Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance aims to offer seamless file transfers between these manufacturers' devices with a single click. Wireless transmission should be available worldwide.
The new technology should be available to users of Xiaomi devices with MIUI 11 within the function Share me. Supported devices should be running Android Pie or later, and the list does not include models Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6, Redmi 7, Redmi 7, Redmi S2, Redmi 8, Redmi 8, Redmi Notes 8, Redmi Note 8T. We do not yet know the list of Vivo and Oppo devices.
Innovation for everyone, says Xiaomi
The new wireless file transfer system will allow users of these three brands to easily transfer files between their mobile devices without the need for third-party applications. This technology also supports a wide range of file types, including photos, videos, music, documents, and more.
"This extension of the Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance to global users further underscores Xiaomi's long-standing commitment to innovation for all. By teaming up with Vivo and Oppo, two industry leaders with a strong user base, we expect benefits for smartphone users around the world. Xiaomi will continue to bring other strategic partnerships of this kind to our users and the Mi Fans community. ” - said Chew Shou Zi, senior vice president of Xiaomi.
It is a collective commitment between Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo to create a new generation of mobile experience. Together, the three brands will continue to work together openly to bring about new technological innovations. The alliance is also open to cooperation with other brands.
Immediate and stable connection with low power consumption
Wireless file transfer system does not require internet connection. It uses Bluetooth technology for fast pairing and technology WiFi P2P (Peer to Peer) for data transmission, which combines instant, stable and high-speed connections between devices, as well as low power consumption.
This technology provides an average transfer rate 20 MB / s. WiFi technology also does not interrupt the Wi-Fi connection, which means that users stay connected and can continue to do other activities on the device while transferring files.
How does it work ?
It's really easy to use. For example, sharing photos on another brand of smartphone is much more convenient. When file sharing is turned on on both devices, just click the "Share" button below the photo, select another device, and click "Upload."
