At the end of 2020, we witnessed the official presentation of a new flagship model series Xiaomi Mi 11. This performance was accompanied by one non - traditional novelty connected with by removing the charging adapter from the smartphone package.
The rather controversial decision of the Chinese giant, following the example of the American Apple, divided the manufacturer's fans into two imaginary camps. Some are in favor of solving an environmental problem and are willing to give up the charging adapter, others want as much as possible for their money.
The ideas did not come true
Unlike Apple, Xiaomi took this issue for granted. The end customer has a choice between packing without a charger, while the price does not change. The Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone without a charger was chosen only from the total number of purchased phones 6% of buyers.
Indeed, this result, although predictable, did not please anyone. So it is now questionable whether the manufacturer will decide to bring this option to purchase the charging adapter for free to the global market. You can find more about this topic in our previous article.
Xiaomi does not copy Apple
This article addresses the question of whether the Chinese giant really quickly changed its mind about removing adapters from the charger based on Apple's decision, or whether this intention was already planned. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, gives us a clear answer.
The decision to remove the chargers from the package was made in the head of Director Xiaomi, he said already in a year 2015, that is, before Apple came up with the idea. Its main driving force was the effort to stop the generation of waste from unnecessary and discarded charging adapters.
Only time will tell whether he turned this nice idea into reality in the right way. Either way, it is necessary for each of us to think about whether we really need another adapter in stock, and if not, we don't need to take it just because I can.
