Smartphone review Xiaomi Mi 9T we have already published on our website. It was a lightweight model with an excellent price, but now let's take a closer look at the "Pro" version of this device called Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.
It is a very similar smartphone in terms of design, but with a large difference in performance. It hides a full-fledged flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor in its body.

The packaging does not surprise - it is identical
The smartphone comes in an elegant black box that contains a picture with the name of the model. At the top, this time there is a black paper envelope, which contains (similarly to the Mi 9T) a quality plastic case with the necessary cutouts for a smartphone.
There is also a group of simple manuals, but also a needle for ejecting the slot for a pair of SIM cards (microSD card in this case can not be used).
Under the mentioned envelope there is the glass-metal smartphone itself covered with a protective foil. Below it there is also a charging cable with a USB terminal type C and a local charger terminal.
The charger in the package has an output of 18 W. However, the smartphone supports up to 27 W fast charging, specifically in the Quick Charge 4+ standard, for which the manufacturer definitely deserves praise. However, you will need to purchase an appropriate charger to use this charge.
Design Mi 9T, Pro equipment
equipment Mi 9T Pro comes with truly the same dimensions as the original I 9T. The dimensions were thus stopped at 156,7 x 74,3 x 8,8 mm, the weight remaining at the same value of 191 grams.
However, the bold design, including the motorized camera of this smartphone, fits very well in the hand, especially thanks to the rounded back wall, but also the rounded corner of the device. When held, the user does not suffer from the size of the device, which is a welcome plus.
It fits very well in the hand
The front wall is the domain of the 6,39 ″ display with minimal frames and a really soft "chin" at the bottom. The fingerprint reader remained on the front, it is integrated into the display.
Above the display is a speaker for telephony and a group of sensors. You will not find the LED here, its primary functionality is replaced by the ambient display of notifications on AMOLED panels.
The upper edge is home to a 3,5 mm audio connector and there is also a socket with the aforementioned motorized front camera.
It is at this point on the upper edge that there is also an LED that can signal, for example, charging. However, its location is relatively unfortunate for notifications.
The bottom edge features a loud speaker that lacks a bit of a bass component but can handle some casual video watching. There is a USB type C connector for charging, a primary microphone for telephony and, untraditionally, a slot for placing a SIM card.
The left edge is completely empty. However, there is a plastic strip for the passage of the signal, which can also be found on other sides. The right edge contains buttons for volume control, as well as for turning the device off or on. The latter is color-coded, which is definitely a plus.
The rear wall is home to three rear cameras, while it also proudly boasts 48 MPx lettering, ie the resolution of its main camera. The processing is glass and offers a beautiful play of colors.
The Xiaomi logo is not missing, and the official Slovak distribution will also offer mandatory certification and recycling information at these locations. The cameras come out of the body of the device, but only minimally and the packaged packaging will match it.
The phone lacks IP certification for increased resistance to dust and water, but the prerequisite for this missing function is probably a motorized front camera.
The glossy design is easily slippery, but the solution may be to use a protective cover. Despite these subtle negatives, the processing of the device is truly exemplary and we praise the manufacturer once again.
Top AMOLED remains
Yes, the display is another feature that is retained compared to the cheaper Mi 9T model. It is a 6,39 ″ Super AMOLED panel (covered with Gorilla Glass 5) with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (403 ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19,5: 5.
The display does not disturb any cut-out and has thin, really minimal frames. The panel itself has very good viewing angles and we can easily describe it as high quality.
The edges are rounded and the colors are set slightly yellow from the factory. However, color, text size, and contrast correction are available in the settings, and we took advantage of this option accordingly.
The minimum brightness of the display is fine, and since it's AMOLED, we recommend using dark mode (for better readability at night as well as to save battery power). The maximum brightness is sufficient, the display mode for viewing in direct sunlight only helped, so we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the display.
Snapdragon 855 flag processor
Among the main and clearly the biggest improvements are the use of a high-performance eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor (the cheaper model uses a less powerful Snapdragon 730 processor).
It is coupled with 6 GB of RAM and an improved graphics accelerator Adreno 640. Truly flagship equipment thus gets into the body of the device Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro.
This improvement is really felt in the performance. The smartphone is lightning fast, without hesitation, and a suitably optimized MIUI only helps the final, very good user experience. Although there was no shortage of performance even with the cheaper model, the "Pro" version goes even further.
Players come to their senses and the smartphone can handle virtually any application or. a game from the Play Store or demanding multitasking, editing photos or videos. We recorded only minimal heating, at high power.
Three different memory versions
There are currently three memory versions of the smartphone on sale. It is a combination of 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, it also offers 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage and the most expensive resp. the best-equipped version offers up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
When choosing a memory version, keep in mind that the internal storage cannot be expanded with a microSD memory card.
The first time you turn on the device, system storage requires less than 10 GB of internal space. For this reason, we recommend that you choose a kind of "golden mean" in the form of a version with 128 GB of memory in case your files no longer require more space. The 6 GB RAM of the system is richly sufficient and the surcharge for the version with 8 GB of RAM thus pays off only for the really demanding so-called "Poweruser" by users.
Fingerprint reader below the display
Even a better-equipped model retains its premium function in the form of a new generation of fingerprint reader. It is located on the front, but below the display.
The specific location of the sensor is highlighted in software when used (backlit by AMOLED panel). The manufacturer deserves praise for the implementation of this innovative technology. But what is a reader in practice?
The reader as such is not bad at all, it is fast for the proportions of the sensors located under the display and recognizes the finger usually on the first try. The second attempt should be used only minimally, provided that the fingers are not wet or too greasy. If they are, the user does not come and can use the code resp. face recognition. However, it is slower (by the moment the front camera is extended).
Android 9.0 Pie is not missing
The smartphone contains the current Android 9.0 Pie system and will almost certainly see a newer update to the Android 10 system. The manufacturer has already confirmed this fact for the flagship smartphone, but so far only for the Chinese version of the K20 Pro. However, the European version is likely to be available as well.
The system is very well optimized and works without hesitation with sufficient RAM capacity, while also helping a powerful processor. Gently freezes the level of security, the smartphone included only the August security package. At the time of testing, we would appreciate at least the September security patches from Google.
Current MIUI system 10.3.2
The traditional MIUI extension is currently in version 10.3.2. As a very well-equipped flagship smartphone, the Mi 9T Pro will also receive an update to the new MIUI 11 superstructure. However, in the stable version for European customers, it will be necessary to wait a few more weeks. However, the MIUI extension also works as an example in the current version.
The superstructure offers a dark mode, ideal for AMOLED panels, but also an ambient display of dates or notifications. The implementation of "Digital Balance" is a positive news.
This is Google's original Android service, which directly and statistically displays how often and how your smartphone is used. It also offers various limit settings.
Three powerful cameras
The photographic equipment offers a proven main 48 MPx (f / 1.8) sensor, which is complemented by an 8 MPx (f / 2.4) telephoto lens with double optical zoom, as well as a 13 MPx (f / 2.4) wide-angle sensor. There is HDR, panorama mode, night mode, full 48 MPx mode and other modes, including slow motion video.
Standard video can be recorded up to 2160p (30/60 fps). The mentioned rear cameras protrude gently from the body of the device and are complemented by a dual LED flash.
The front camera is a chapter in itself. It is a motorized sensor, which, if necessary or. launching the camera slides out from the top edge of the device.
Ejection is relatively fast, hassle-free and is complemented by a customizable sound and light effect. The module that slides out contains a 20 MPx (f / 2.2) sensor, HDR and 1080p video are not missing.
The quality of photos in daylight is really very good. There is no lack of sharpness, the color rendering is fine and you will also enjoy the blurred background or. popular "bokeh" effect. The AI mode sometimes adjusts colors quite wildly, so its use is rather occasional.
On the contrary, you will enjoy the night mode, which will offer significantly more light in night photos. In the given price category, however, it is a very good photographic equipment and the smartphone is definitely not to be ashamed. The software is fast and properly optimized.
Full-size original photos are available at the following link.
In the gallery above, we bring a preview of photos in daylight, photos taken in poor lighting conditions, full-fledged, but also macro photos. Sample photos in the gallery are scaled down for review.
Connectivity - everything as it should be. Including NFC
The device will offer exemplary connectivity in its flagship equipment, including a full-fledged LTE connection in Slovakia. Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with aptX HD support, GPS (including A-GPS), GLONASS, GALILEO and standard FM radio are not missing.
The NFC chip will also please. We have tested contactless payments via Google Pay and they work flawlessly in Slovakia as well.
4000 mAh does not disappoint
In terms of endurance on a single charge, the smartphone is a bold but reliable work device. The "Pro" model can handle a full working day, including the active use of social networks, telephoning, as well as watching videos and occasional gaming, with absolutely no problems.
In the evening, in addition, a very good 20-30% battery is still available. This can be supplemented via a fast 27W charge (a fast charger is included in the package).
However, endurance is an individual category. If this smartphone gets into the hands of a less demanding user, endurance at the level of two days is really real.
On the other hand, a passionate player of mobile games or streaming is able to discharge the battery even in the morning, as evidenced by the screenshot of the use of the on screen. In general, however, the battery life is very good. However, if we were looking for the negative, compared to competing flagship devices in this case, there is no wireless charging of the smarfon.
Final rating: A real flagship smartphone
Model Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is a true flagship smartphone. This is evidenced not only by the design and processing of the device, but above all by its technical equipment, including a powerful processor, a large battery and fast charging.
It is complemented by an AMOLED display, motorized front camera, full connectivity including NFC and a great, tuned system with a superstructure (so far) MIUI 10.

Wondering what is so special about this device? Most of the flagship devices usually offer the mentioned advantages. So what predisposes Mi MiT Pro to success is its very low price.
Low in terms of price / performance ratio and property ratio vs. competition. You can buy this smartphone for the sum of equals 300 EUR / 7738 CZK. This is a price that is really hard to resist.
The phone is good, just has annoying automatic brightness control. In complete darkness, or dim light, it lowers the brightness to such a minimum that nothing can be read. Android in this version, should be able to learn your brightness settings, but xiaomi has somehow perfected it and it doesn't work. I hope that with 10 comes a fix.
Missing wireless charging… oh why not put there ?? For me it is an element without which I would not buy a mobile phone, for me a big minus: / but otherwise the machine is proper na
Hello, does anyone happen to know when the 8gb / 256gb version will be available in our country?
infrared? really?
