Leica Photography is a long-standing partner of Huawei and together they can make really good quality cameras. Today, however, it is already known that the Huawei P50 will be the last smartphone to emerge from this collaboration.
All good things will come to an end
Ever since the introduction of the Huawei P9 smartphone in 2016, it has been known that Huawei has entered into a partnership with the German company Leica to get the highest quality sensors into smartphones. They did well for many years and Huawei regularly occupied the leading positions in the DxOMark ranking.
This cooperation did not become a one-time step, but lasted up to 5 years. But now it has become clear that the agreement between the two companies has expired and neither party is interested in renewing it. It looks like the soon-to-be introduced Huawei P50 smartphone will be the last result of this long-standing collaboration.
With Leica now without a partner, information is beginning to spread so that it doesn't have to stay that long. Companies like Xiaomi, Sharp and Gionee are ready to replace Huawei. It would be interesting to see a smartphone from Xiaomi, which would have the Leica logo on the back of the camera.
It would certainly be a great collaboration, which could result in the DxOMark ranking having a new winner in the form of a flagship from Xiaomi. That's the way it is already My 11 Ultra very well, thanks in particular to technologies such as the liquid lens or the Night Owl night mode. Maybe we could see the first cooperation of brands in the upcoming smartphone Xiaomi Mi MIX 4. Let's be surprised.
Huawei mainly wants to survive
The Chinese company Huawei has not had it easy lately. Since she was blacklisted by the United States and banned from doing business with American companies, it has been going down. Sales continue to decline, which in turn discourages many users from buying the fact that the smartphone does not include Google services.
In addition, it is currently not possible to pay by mobile phone and Huawei solves everything through its alternative application store. The new wind can bring the introduction of its own operating system called Harmony OS. This should be shown first on the watch and later on the smartphone. Anyway, we keep our fingers crossed for Huawei.
