Redmi A1: A budget phone with pure Android
Xiaomi has officially introduced new smartphones for the Indian market. Among them there is also an affordable novelty with a label Redmi A1. It's a basic device that takes some elements of mid-range smartphones and integrates pure Android in the style of the last Android One device called Xiaomi Mi A3.
In any case, we cannot consider this device as a powerful or even a gaming smartphone. On the contrary, it offers a very simple and discreet design, affordable materials and a favorable price-performance ratio, along with smooth software. The dimensions of the device stopped at 76,75 x 164,9 x 9,09 mm, the weight is 192 grams.
As you can see in the official photos, probably the most interesting element is the processing of the back wall of the device. Offer plastic back cover with a design that simulates leather materials. We could already see this finish in cheaper devices from the subsidiary brand, for example POCO M3.
The smartphone will go on sale in three colors. It is specifically about black, green and blue color processing. There is also a rear camera module on this side, which includes unspecified ones 8 MPx a 2 MPx sensors. This basic configuration probably won't offer breathtaking photographic results, but we also have to consider the production costs and the attractively low selling price.
6,52″ HD+ display, MediaTek processor and only 10 W charging via microUSB
Understandably, the low price is due to the relatively wide bezels around the display, which offers a drop-shaped cut-out. It contains a 5 MPx front camera with basic photo quality. The display has a diagonal 6,52″, HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels), IPS LCD technology and brightness at the level 400 rivets. These relatively basic values are suitable especially for the undemanding user.
It is no different in the case of performance. The integrated processor will take care of that MediaTek Helio A22, which is supplemented with RAM memory type LPDDR4x. The internal storage is 32 GB and you can expand it using a microSD memory card up to 512 GB (the slot contains 2 x nanoSIM + microSD). Other functions include Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS and a 3,5 mm audio connector.
The main advantage of this device named Redmi A1 is unconventional software, at least compared to other Xiaomi or Redmi devices. Operating system Android 12 it is available in its simplest form, without a graphic superstructure MIUI. In addition to the fast and smooth operation of the device, it can also mean a reliable presence software updates. However, the Xiaomi brand did not specify their number.
We can terminate the equipment 5000 mAh accumulator, which promises a relatively long duration per charge, considering the specifications. Disappointingly slow for today 10 W charging, as well as an outdated connector microUSB.
So if you want to save money, this smartphone could be an interesting choice, but you can't expect too much from it. It can also be suitable as the second or a spare smartphone for the home or a device for children and seniors.
