A popular Chinese company Roborock, which also started under the wings of the ecosystem Xiaomi, is preparing his own electric SUV with LiDAR technology and the possibility of extending the range of the vehicle. The manufacturer known for its portfolio of elaborate robotic vacuum cleaners is preparing an unexpected novelty.
Roborock and electric SUV?
The electric SUV begins its story in the premises of the Chinese car company Changjing. She is also the founder of the brand Roborock and now brings his new label company Rox Motor. And Rox Motor is a technology company focused on smart car innovations. So far, it has raised approximately $540 million from investors such as Xiaomi Capital, Northern Light Venture Capital and others.
If we look directly at the upcoming vehicle, it has a designation Rox Motor Stone 01. Specifically, it is a medium-sized electric SUV with a load-bearing body and a length of more than 5 meters. Depending on the configuration, it can handle 6 or 7 passengers and is equipped with an electric motor with the ability to extend the range. There will be a 150 kW and a 200 kW version with maximum speed 190 km / h.
However, the most striking feature of this electric car is the intelligent navigation system. It includes LiDAR technology, cameras and radar, thus providing a truly rich array of sensors. LiDAR is located on the roof, while integrated cameras are located on the rear and exterior mirrors. The radars are subsequently mounted on the fenders.
Rox Motor Stone 01 made in Beijing
Production Rox Motor Stone 01 should take place in the factory Qingdao in Beijing (BAW). The factory is also a collaboration between the popular Chinese company BAIC Manufacturing and Rox Motor. With this bold project Roborock demonstrates its ambitions and ability to innovate in various fields, different from powerful robotic vacuum cleaners.
In realizing this vision, the parent company relies on its experience in the field of robotic vacuum cleaners, which are also considered miniature autonomous devices that can move intelligently around the home.
Roborock has developed advanced algorithms for mapping, route planning, obstacle avoidance, and machine learning capabilities for its robotic vacuum cleaners. He now plans to apply these technologies to smart electric vehicles to make them safer and more efficient.
Besides that, Roborock benefits from its close collaboration with Xiaomi, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. In addition to financial support, Xiaomi offers access to its smart ecosystem of products and services. This platform can help connect Xiaomi smart products with smart vehicles to ensure a seamless user experience.
However, we do not yet know more technical specifications. The details of the equipment will probably be revealed only by the first official information from this Chinese manufacturer.
