Xiaomi 14 Ultra: Camera under the display again?

Until the launch of the smartphone Xiaomi 14Ultra there are less than 3 months left, and new leaks are already starting to appear. Just recently, a new model codenamed "Xiaomi Suiren" was spotted on Geekbench. However, no one has revealed which smartphone this codename belongs to.

However, now GSMChina.com comes with a message to find the necessary information. Mi Code revealed that this designation should belong to the premium device Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which should appear on the market in two different versions.

The predecessor Xiaomi 13 Ultra already had significant improvements in terms of mobile photography. And it is the successor of this model, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, that wants to continue this legacy, along with a function that may surprise some users. It is a camera hidden under the display. The improvement does not apply to the MIX series, whose new MIX 5 model will not be introduced until 2025.

What is hidden under the code name?

First of all, we must emphasize that the original code designations Xiaomi 14Ultra they haven't changed. The smartphone will continue to be codenamed "aurora". In addition, a new code designation appeared. This codename is "aurorapro". One of the pair will offer a camera under the display, while the other, probably through the "pro" designation, will offer a standard front camera.

And the internal codename "Xiaomi Suiren" that appeared in the Mi Code actually belongs to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with a camera under the screen. The name "Suiren" is not found on Xiaomi's server. Therefore, the codename "Xiaomi Suiren" actually represents the same device as "aurorapro".

The last internal build HyperOS software for Xiaomi 14Ultra bears the label 24.1.12. It is about the so-called "daily build" and indicates that the smartphone has been internally tested. Directly after the official presentation, it should offer the operating system in version Android 14. The smartphone should offer a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and excellent photographic results. Its introduction is expected in April 2024, alongside the new Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro tablet.

Finally, a brief look into the history of code designations. "Suiren" was the inventor of fire in ancient China and was recognized as the so-called "ancestor of fire". And it was his family descendants who had the names "fuxi" and "nuwa". These happen to be codenames for previous flagship smartphones Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro.
