Design: Graceful shapes, pleasant curves and changing shades
When Xiaomi introduced a brand new series of CC smartphones at the beginning of July / July this year, it also revealed its focus. The phones in the CC model range are primarily intended for photography and their target group is young people who want to be different.
The new CC9 Pro model continues this idea, not only in equipment but also in appearance. This is confirmed not only by the rounded edges or a series of five lenses on the back, but also by the modern colors with changing shades.
The smartphone was introduced in three color versions:
- Magic green, which combines several green shades depending on the incident light. Sometimes they are shades evoking calm, other times they are a combination of vivid colors full of vitality. According to the manufacturer, they literally bring the magical colors of the forest, which inspired the naming of this color version.
- Ice and Snow Aurorawhich combines shades of ice and snow
- Dark Night Phantom, which is a classic black version for people who like elegant design
The dimensions of the phone are 157,8 x 74,2 x 9,67 mm and the weight is 208 gram. The individual controls are located in the side frame and have a classic layout. In the upper part there is an infrared port and a slot for two SIM cards with a hybrid slot for a microSD card.
On the right side are the volume buttons and the on/off button. In the lower part of the frame, there are openings for the speaker, microphone, USB type C and 3,5 mm jack. In the thin frame above the display, there is a slim line of the hole for the handset.
Although the smartphone is a bit thicker, thanks to the pleasantly rounded shape, it does not look like that.
Thanks to these design tricks, almost a centimeter of thickness is lost. We evaluate the overall design positively and we must admit that it is really a device that attracts at first sight, and in this respect, the Xiaomi CC9 Pro has been very successful.
Display: Large OLED that can breathe
The novelty received a beautiful 6,47-inch OLED display with all its advantages. It has FullHD+ resolution 2340 x 1080 pixels and aspect ratio 19,5:9 with a pixel density of 398 ppi. Maximum brightness is reached 600 rivets and the display gets 103,8% NTSC super wide color gamut.
It supports ambient display and its neat curvature on both sides can "breathe". This function has the primary task of informing about missed events. When the display is off, the rounded edges of the display are illuminated intermittently in white-blue shades and inform the user about received messages, missed calls, and other events.
A new type of fingerprint sensor is integrated in the lower part of the display. CC9 Pro is the first smartphone in the world that is equipped with an optical fingerprint sensor with an ultra-thin display area. The sensitivity of the sensor and the success rate of unlocking have been improved, while the device can be quickly unlocked with a single quick touch, even under more demanding conditions such as strong light, low temperature, and the like.
The small drop cutout at the top of the display freezes a bit today. However, there is a front "selfie" camera with resolution 32 MPx. It is an ISOCELL sensor Samsung S5KGD1which has an aperture f / 2.0 and pixel size 0,8 microns. It will support wide-angle shooting, Portrait mode and about 12 different types of filters.
Performance: It is not oversized, but it can handle everything you need
As the main pillar of the hardware, the manufacturer decided to use a mid-range processor from the Qualcomm workshop. Mobile platform Snapdragon 730G brings selected game features Snapdragon Elite Gaming, which allow rendering relatively better graphics, support smoother gaming, and control powerful wireless audio while gaming.
Graphics performance is 15% higher compared to Snapdragon 730. It also offers Qualcomm AI Engine features for more intuitive image capture and optimized performance.
Snapdragon 730g so 64-bit architecture has eight cores of Kryo 470which are in the ratio 2 x 2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold and 6 x 1.8 GHz Kryo 470 Silver. The processor was built on 8nm technology for extreme energy efficiency in a small size. The flagship processor Snapdragon 855 has the same manufacturing process.
The graphics chip is Adreno 618 it handles True HDR with extreme reality, rich graphics and cinema-quality image processing, which is possible for the first time with a seventh-class Snapdragon. According to the manufacturer Snapdragon 730G provides high performance and impressive battery life.
All the necessary zeros and units needed to run the system can be stored in the operating memory it will have for a while 6 GB or 8 GB. Xiaomi CC9 Pro will come with storage 128 GB aj 256 GB.
At the time of the start of the sale, the operating system will be pre-installed on the smartphone Android 9 Pie with a popular software extension MIUI 11. An update to Android 10 Q is expected in the near future.
The 108 MPx camera makes it special
108 megapixel sensor, which was manufactured in collaboration with Samsung and Xiaomi and has so far appeared only in an unavailable Mi Mix Alpha we have been waiting for a long time. However, no one expected that it would appear in the new smartphone from Xiaomi in a combination of five cameras called a "penta camera". The neatly arranged line with five sensors is very impressive.
The three primary cameras are housed together in a protruding module. In addition, two of them gained 4-axis optical stabilization, which is unparalleled in Xiaomi smartphones. The other two sensors fit snugly into the level of the back cover and perfectly complement the overall parameters of the penta camera.
However, in order not to write in general, let's imagine a detailed combination of a penta camera. Let's start from the top:
- 5 MPx OV08A10 super telephoto sensor, also called periscope sensor with four-axis optical stabilization, which has a function 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom a 50x digital zoom

Engineers at Xiaomi have made considerable efforts to combine the penta camera in the Xiaomi CC9 Pro. The powerful main camera with more than 100 million pixels and a sensor size of 1 / 1,33 ″ was just the beginning.
It was necessary to rework the whole set of lenses used, as well as the focus and stabilization mechanism. Thanks to that, it was built the most powerful camera system from Xiaomi. The cost of the whole camera module in Xiaomi CC9 Pro have reached five times the cost compared to the previous generation of smartphones.
A great success for Xiaomi is also the high score of 121 points, which they gained in the prestigious test of DxOmark cameras. With this score, the CC9 Pro equals the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, which has so far ruled the world rankings. The CC9 Pro can be said to be the second king of cameras in the smartphone market.
This brutal and globally unique combination called a penta camera is complemented by two dual LED flashes. Xiaomi argues that two double flashes will create a softer type of light and the resulting effect will be better.
When shooting in the dark, a single flash tends to brighten the area, which can distort skin color, for example. When shooting with the CC9 Pro, photos will be more natural thanks to the use of two dual LED flashes.
Special "login" function
Xiaomi wants users of their latest smartphone to take full advantage of the potential of the 108 MPx camera. That's why the smartphone is equipped with a special "login" function, thanks to which you can edit the recorded video directly in the smartphone. Special effects and transitions between shots are available, making the video look like a professional cut.
Emphasis on quality sound
A quality camera system and performance is not enough. The popular and top smartphone must be a complex of sophisticated functions and perfect hardware, which harmonizes together in a user-friendly unit.
One of the monitored articles is also audio playback. The outgoing sound must have a sufficient volume level and at the same time maintain the most faithful output without distortion. Xiaomi CC9 Pro is equipped large sound cavity 1CC, which while maintaining quality, it brings up to twice as much volume compared to the previous generation of sound systems.
To confirm the quality of the audio output even in the user's headphones, the Xiaomi CC9 Pro has been certified in the standard Hi Res Audio and has 3,5 mm connector for connecting any headphones.
Wireless connectivity you can think of
The new representative of the CC series has acquired all the standard elements of wireless connections. In addition to supporting 4G mobile networks, it also acquired WiFi technology in the 802.11a / ac / b / g / nav standards in the 2,4 and 5 GHz bands.
Bluetooth is version 5.0 and you can use the infrared port to remotely control various appliances. Contactless payments and in China the NFC module can handle much more. From the location services, all available navigation systems such as GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS and GALILEO are represented.
Real endurance
With the battery capacity that the CC9 Pro has gained in combination with fast charging, you will no longer have to deal with the charger at every step and forget about the power bank. So far, the highest battery capacity in the Xiaomi smartphone boasts a value of 5260 mAh.
Power is replenished by a powerful charging adapter in mode Mi Charge Turbo with power up to 30 W. The manufacturer states that only 58 minutes are enough to reach 30 percent of the battery charge. It is said that only 65 minutes will be enough to fully charge. The smartphone did not get convenient wireless charging.
The "perfect" smartphone?
Despite the unbelievable equipment and the world camera, the Xiaomi CC9 Pro retains a very affordable price. The version with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB memory will be available on the Chinese market for the price of 2799 yuan, which is calculated 360 € / CZK 9200.
The price of the version with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage is 3099 yuan, ie 397 € / 10 135 CZK and the highest version with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage was priced at 3499 yuan, in terms of 450 € / 11 500 CZK.
Given the premium smartphone with a camera that is on par with the 1000-euro Huawei Mate 30 Pro, this is an incredible price.
