A new folding smartphone that should come to the market under the name Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, appeared in the GSMA IMEI database. Information about the next generation began to appear in August, immediately after the presentation of the third generation of the device.
We know from the first information leaks that we could wait as early as the fourth quarter of this year. Xiaomi is expected to use a new and powerful processor for this news Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The third generation is directly based on its predecessor, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. And the fourth generation should be similar, using the design from Xiaomi MIX Fold 3.
We will see a few months earlier
Despite the fact that we do not know much information about this new product, the IMEI database revealed some information to us. For example, the fact that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 has 2 model designations. The first is the 2405CPX3DC. This model number is for the MIX FOLD 4 models that will be sold in China. Another model number indicates that it will also be sold globally. Because the MIX FOLD 4 also has a model number with a "G" ending, namely 2405CPX3DG.
It is the last letter of the designation that indicates the direction of the global version. However, if we look at this label in more detail, we will find more information. The number 2405 at the beginning of the model number indicates May 2024. This confirms that, unlike previous folding models, the MIX Fold 4 will be introduced a little earlier. The novelty will probably arrive at the turn of May and June of 2024.
For comparison, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3" was officially introduced in August this year. This time, the two generations will be separated by only 10 months. We do not know any other technical information yet. However, we expect further information leaks to escalate, especially in the period before the press conference.
