Our favorite Chinese company Xiaomi is embarking on serial production of its first electric car Xiaomi SU7, and that on the domestic market. We already know the first shots from the production hall.

Xiaomi SU7: This is how electric cars are manufactured
Lei Jun, co-founder of the brand and head of this project, showed us in a video how the production process takes place. The videos appeared on the social network Twitter / X, and capture several steps in the completion and testing of the car.
Thrilled to showcase our Xiaomi EV HyperFactory. It houses R&D, production, sales, and customer experiences across six workshops. Here's a glimpse at our welding workshop, which operates with a 91% automation rate – one of the highest in the industry! pic.twitter.com/qWUxqjjqsZ

The first video will serve as an illustration of the HyperFactory production hall, a gigantic Xiaomi factory in China, which is exclusively dedicated to the production or assembly of various Xiaomi SU7 configurations. In this factory, there are four key departments, which are part of a total of up to six workshops:
- Research and Development Department
- Production
- sale
- Customer support
A robotic paradise in a gigantic Chinese factory
The area of the production hall is really vast. As you can see in the video, Lei Jun has to use a small vehicle to tour the entire hall. However, let's move on to the emphasis on the welding part of the workshop. It is currently 91% automated and includes up to 400 robots that are responsible for welding every single element Xiaomi SU7.
To give you an idea of the degree of automation in this production hall, the welding part alone contains more than 400 high-resolution cameras. Robots can perform their work even with the lights off or in complete darkness.
Lei Jun claims that other factories, such as Mercedes-Benz taught him to place the engineering office in the center of the production workshop. Mainly because it is in the center of the action and can control all important production processes.
Xiaomi HyperCasting: Technological process at a high level
The SU7 is an electric car that has a specific manufacturing process. The latter uses the technology of casting under pressure with the name HyperCasting. This technology will enable the production of the car body in an innovative and efficient way.

This type of technology was first introduced by American Tesla for its Tesla Model Y. However, Xiaomi improves this technology and pushes the bar even further. The manufacturer increased the size, quality and strength of the cast parts, which is beneficial for the resulting durability of the electric car.
The core of this technology is the die casting area, which covers an area of 840 square meters. It is surrounded by die-casting equipment with more than 60 pieces of parts. During the casting, clamping and temperature control process, up to 9100 tons of clamping force is available to firmly lock the mold into which liquid aluminum alloy, heated up to 700°C, is inserted.
Up to 8 layers of varnish
Another area that Lei Jun showed us is the painting area. Construction Xiaomi SU7 it receives up to 8 layers of paint, the whole process is understandably optimized by robotic arms. The result is a glossy tone that looks premium even with the basic version.

The finale comes in the form of shock absorber testing. They receive several tests within the same production hall, which thoroughly test every piece of the already successfully assembled vehicle. You will definitely appreciate these tests as a potential future user, also considering the quality of road surfaces in Slovakia. However?
