If currently the Xiaomi SU7 is one of the main rivals of the Porsche Taycan, the future SUV 4×4 from Xiaomi until the end of the year 2024 could hold its own against the Porsche Cayenne.
Xiaomi SU7 shuffled the cards
Ever since Xiaomi introduced its new sports EV Xiaomi SU7 and set out to become a full-fledged electric car manufacturer, at least 2 of the world's leading electric car manufacturers have been suffering from headaches. They are them Tesla, which sells its electric cars more expensively, and Porsche, which has an attractive design for Xiaomi.
Will Xiaomi compete with Porsche with another model?
A serious rival for the premium Porsche Taycan has appeared on the market, and that is the Xiaomi SU7. The Xiaomi sedan clearly indicates that it is one of its main competitors Porsche Taycan. The German automaker seems to be facing competition from its next model. Apparently, Xiaomi should launch a new electric SUV at the end of 2024. This model should look similar Porsche Cayenne.
Electric Xiaomi SUV 4×4 is already on the horizon
Bodywork and equipment make SUVs bulky and heavier. Their movement requires more stored energy, which means larger batteries and therefore even more weight. Producing electric SUVs is difficult. Nevertheless, it seems that even these problems will not stop Xiaomi, as the latest news from China suggests that plans to launch a 4x4 SUV by the end of the year.
Although we assumed that the process of development and approval of electric cars is a long-term issue and that the Xiaomi SU7 model will not appear in Europe at least 3 years, it looks like Xiaomi has already started the production lines of its electric cars and plans to continue without a break (although not for the EU market yet). Information about the second electric car from Xiaomi has already leaked to the public, suggesting that another model is already on the way.
What will the Xiaomi SUV look like?
Available information suggests that Xiaomi plans to launch a large SUV with luxury modifications, which could be direct competitor Porsche Cayenne. This model would not only compete on the international stage, but would also lead the fight in the domestic market with the model LiAuto L9, which seems to be an affordable rival for Xiaomi.
It is expected that part of Xiaomi's plans is to introduce a vehicle with a similarly generous interior space as it offers 7-digit model Li Auto L9.
According to the leaked information, the SUV from Xiaomi might not be only electric. In China, a combination of battery and diesel combustion engine is quite often used. Therefore, it is likely that the Xiaomi SUV will be plug-in hybrid. We will see how the situation develops.
