Xiaomi's spectacular year-end 2022 conference brought significant news. Except for the flagships from the Xiaomi 13 series we also saw a new generation of smart watches. Improvements are indeed welcome.
In terms of design, the Xiaomi Watch S2 has not changed much from its predecessor. Again we have the circular watch that they have stainless steel body. The side buttons have a new shape and again the rotating crown is absent.
In the case of the larger model, the weight is on par 71 grams. The straps are standard leather, but thanks to the width of the strap 22 mm it will not be a problem to exchange them for something of your own. There is no lack of certification 5 ATM.
The change is that the Xiaomi Watch S2 will be available in two sizes, namely 42 and 46 mm. The surprise is that we did not get a successor to the sportier model Xiaomi Watch S1 Active. Maybe Xiaomi is saving it for later.
The dimensions of the 42 mm model are 42,3 x 42,3 10,2 mm, while the larger model has the dimensions 46 x 46 x 10,2 mm. Both sizes will be in black and silver.
Quality AMOLED display and body composition
This time, the screen is also covered by a protective screen sapphire crystal, so you won't have to deal with possible scratches. The smaller model has 1,34-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. Larger model it has a 1,5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels.
As for the measurement of various metrics, we have the classics in the form of heart rate, blood oxygenation, stress, sleep, but Xiaomi also adds a novelty in the form of body composition measurements, where you will find out, for example, the percentage of fat, muscle, water in the body and similar metrics.
We have already seen something similar with Samsung's smart watch from the Galaxy Watch4 model. With this metric in the given price category, the Xiaomi Watch S2 stands out above the direct competition. The measurement of sports activities is also ensured with the help of GPS module. Their number is more 100.
Decent battery life per charge
There is a microphone and speaker on the body, so you will be able to use them comfortably to make phone calls or give commands to the voice assistant. An NFC module is also present. The durability of the smaller model is approx 7 days, the larger model will last around 14 days.
And what about the price? Smaller The 42 mm model costs 999 yuan, which translates to 135 euros, while the larger sibling with width 46 mm will cost 1 yuan, i.e. approximately 099 euros after conversion.
Following the example of the last generation, we also expect them on the global market sometime early next year at the same conference, where Xiaomi will also present the global versions of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro smartphones.
How do you like this smart watch? Do you appreciate the main improvements compared to the original model? Would you plan to buy them? Let us know in the comments below the article. I currently have the Huawei Watch GT for about 2 years and maximum satisfaction. This year I changed my phone from Honor to Xiaomi and the watch works fine with MT but that's not it. I'm thinking about changing my watch to a Xiaomi S2 for better watch features and definitely a better connection from MT. The S2 watch looks very nice and high-quality, so I'm curious what my first impression will be when I get it in my hand.
