Our favorite Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi offers as part of its popular graphic superstructure MIUI a relatively wide range of adaptations. They are no less detailed smartphone settings and today we will introduce five of them that can make your daily use easier.
We have actively tested all the features below directly on our editorial smartphone Xiaomi 11t.
1) You can also schedule a Do Not Disturb mode
In addition to vibration mode or silent mode, the superstructure offers MIUI also another mode marked "Do Not Disturb". This mode mutes all incoming calls and notifications, and also prevents your smartphone screen from lighting up.
This mode can be extremely useful, for example, in the office, in the cinema when watching a movie or when learning when you do not want to be disturbed unnecessarily. However, you may lose an important message or call when you activate this mode. So instead of manually deactivating this mode, we recommend that you schedule it. The following function will serve you for this purpose:
- Increase or decrease the volume level on your Xiaomi smartphone and then enter this menu settings via the three-dot character.
- You then have a slider to set the silent or Do Not Disturb time.
- You can also schedule the mode for the night, between 23:00 and 07:00, etc. You can find this menu in the smartphone settings, but you can also display it by simply holding the "Do Not Disturb" mode icon in the shortcut center.
2) Restrict internet access for the selected application
Another setting is restriction of internet access (Wi-Fi or mobile data) for your chosen application. Whether you want to reduce your data consumption or eliminate ad serving, MIUI allows for this improvement. The following steps are all you need to activate this feature:
- Go to Settings, Applications, Manage applications
- In this menu, you will search for the relevant application and choose to deactivate Wi-Fi connection or mobile data. You can find this option under "Data usage restrictions".
3) Avoid lowering the volume of your content when you receive a notification
If on your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO you will receive a notification on your smartphone, the volume of any application, including listening to music or multimedia, will automatically decrease. You can choose silent mode, but there is another solution. MIUI allows you to stop this decrease the volume if you follow these steps:
- Go to Settings, Sound & Vibration, Sound Assistant
- Inside this menu you need to turn on the function called "Multiple audio sources" (it is turned off by default)
4) Optimization directly in the notification bar
Application Security is pre - installed by default in virtually any Xiaomi smartphone. It is this application that has the task of optimizing the operation of the system, but it can even free up storage space. However, you can also control these storage acceleration or cleanup functions via the notification bar, without having to enter the application. To find this option, follow these simple steps:
- You need to access the Security application to activate the feature.
- In this application, then go to Settings, and to the Show menu in the notification drop-down menu.
- After activation, you will find a new menu for controlling the mentioned functions directly after dragging, between notifications.
5) You can mute your smartphone by simply turning it
A very practical improvement that the MIUI graphic superstructure offers us is also mute the smartphone by rotating the device itself. For example, if you have a smartphone on your desk and you have an incoming call, but you do not want to be disturbed, by simply turning the device with the display down you can mute the ringing sound, also prevent the notification LED from lighting up and stop vibrations.
To enable this feature, you need to follow these steps:
- Go to the Phone application, and then to its settings via the three-dot menu.
- In this menu you need to select the item "Phone accounts" and also "Incoming call".
- In the end, all you have to do is activate the "Turn to silence" option.
In this menu, you will also find other improvements that may be useful in certain situations. These include lowering the volume of an incoming call by picking up the phone, gradually increasing the ringer volume on an incoming call, or using the flash on a smartphone to signal an incoming call.
How do you like these features within the MIUI graphical extension? You can safely write your observations and opinions below in the discussion below the article. Follow our group on Facebook: Xiaomi Planet - A place for real Xiaomi fans as well as our portal Xiaomi Planet and find out more.
