In addition to the basic model, we also saw the Xiaomi 12S Pro model at the Chinese Xiaomi conference. It improves on the shortcomings of the original model, where it focuses on top performance and great photos in collaboration with Leica.
Familiar design, again a top AMOLED LTPO display
The design has practically not changed. It is still the body of the Xiaomi 12 Pro model, but the only difference is the Leica inscription on the back of the camera module. The Xiaomi 12S Pro smartphone is one of the bigger pieces with dimensions of 163,6 x 74,6 x 8,2 mm. There is durable glass on both sides Corning Gorilla Glass Foods and between them is an aluminum frame.
The display itself is a big pride. It's about 6,73-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution (3400 x 1440 px), LTPO 2.0 technology up to 120 Hz, which dynamically changes the refresh rate according to the displayed content and maximum brightness 1 rivets. They are here too 10-bit colors. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera in the small opening, and a fingerprint reader is also integrated into the display.
The area where there has been improvement is, of course, performance. The latest processor has arrived here as well Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. So again, expect only the best. The hardware is complemented by LDDR5 RAM memory with sizes of 8 and 12 GB, depending on the version.
There is also UFS 3.1 storage in up to three different sizes – 128, 256 and even 512 GB. Xiaomi did not forget about effective VC cooling either, while the "cooler" itself has an area of up to 2900mm2.
50 MPx cameras tuned by Leica
The cameras are also the same as the last generation. We are talking about 50 MPx Sony IMX707 main camera, 50 MPx ultra-wide-angle camera and double telephoto lens has the same resolution. But once again Leica company played with quality here and the results should be worth it.
The battery also retained its capacity 4 mAh. But here it is present 120-watt charging, 50-watt wireless charging and 10-watt reverse charging. Thanks to 120 W charging, the smartphone charges from 0 to 100% in just 19 minutes. Similar to the case of previous generations, charging is also handled by Xiaomi's own Surge P1 charging chip.
There is Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, stereo speakers tuned by Harman/Kardon, infrared sensor and NFC. The operating system is Android 12 with superstructure MIUI 13.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi 12S Pro will be available in the same four colors as the base model, namely black, white, green and purple. Since the show has only taken place in China, it is not known when or if the smartphone will be shown on the global market. Prices for the Chinese market are as follows:
- Version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for 4699 yuan / 670 €
- Version with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 4999 yuan / 715 €
- Version with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 5399 yuan / 772 €
- Version with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage for 4999 yuan / 840 €
