There is more and more talk about the technology that makes it possible to place the front camera under the display. We may see the first device this year, which could be equipped with a camera under the display.
We only recently have informedthat Xiaomi applied for the registration of this patent in November / November 2018.
Camera under the display: How does it all work?
If this technology can be successfully applied to a mobile phone, it will be a clear signal that the cutouts in the displays are gone forever. How does it all work?
In the area where the front camera is located under the display, there is a small transparent part of the display. This part is made of glass, which has a reduced ability to reflect light and therefore has a high light transmission.
If the front camera is activated, part of the display becomes transparent, allowing light to penetrate all the way to the lens. This allows you to take photos. When the camera is deactivated, the display acts as a whole and the transparent part shows what in the other parts of the display.
The sensor below the display achieves better results
The transparent part of the display can act like a camera lens. This allows the camera to produce perfect photos. In addition, Xiaomi believes that the results will be clearer and sharper than with cameras in the cutout or hole.
When the display is off, the front camera is not visible and the entire area adapts to the rest of the display, without any interruption.
The camera below the display may be here sooner than we expected
On the social network Twitter, where Xiaomi informs about the news, there is one sentence of that information a 20 MPx front camera sensor is located below the display. From this it can be concluded that the introduction of the phone with a camera integrated under the display will come soon. The 20 MPx front sensors are equipped with today's flagships.
Xiaomi also brags about her new technological innovation in the official video, which is short, but it gives us a great picture of how this solution works.
