The theme of Xiaomi's first electric car is reviving. In the new leaked information, we learn that Xiaomi already has the first prototype ready and it is decided to show it to us.
In November 2021, it was announced that Xiaomi will launch its first electric car of the year 2024. It said it would invest $1,5 billion initially and then $10 billion over the next 10 years. Currently, however, it seems that Lei Jun will present the prototype a little earlier and there are already talks about August of this year.
Xiaomi car already next month?
The report claims that Lei Jun spends nearly two-thirds of his time at Xiaomi Auto headquarters monitoring the company's progress. Although mass production would not begin until 2024 (with an annual production of 150 units), an earlier unveiling of the prototype would mean conducting a series of tests, including the first winter test.
He will design the first prototype of the Xiaomi electric car HVST Automobile Design. It's the same company that designed the concept car Maven by WM Motor.
The report also says that the company plans to hire a PR director, which suggests that we can expect to see a promotional campaign launch in the coming months, which we can't wait for.
We will see two models
Xiaomi is reportedly planning to launch segment electric cars A+ and B. The first of these will come with support for autonomous driving L2 and will probably cost until 200 yuan, which is not enough 30 000 eur. The second model will support autonomous driving L3 and its price could range to 300 yuan (44 000 eur).
Earlier this month he was prototype spotted on the streets of China, where the company tested autonomous driving. It is quite possible that what Lei Jun will show us next month will be very similar to this prototype.
